In 1981 my father was a National Park Ranger.  A new job assignment of chief ranger of Cape Cod National Seashore moved our family to Cape Cod, Massachusetts.  We lived on a large tidal salt pond that was teaming with flounder and baby blue fish.  On the other side of the street was an incredible freshwater pond filled with chain pickerel, sunfish, and bullheads.  At the age of 7 years old, armed with a Dare Devil lure and a Mepps spinner, I developed my love for fishing while Huck Finning around my house.  The very first fish I caught was with a long cattail with string tied to a perriwinkle snail.  I would dip the snail in the water and wait for a minnow to grab on then I would jerk it out of the water.  An obsession was born. 

 

Six years later we moved to the Great Smokey Mountains of Tennessee.  Again my house was located right on the water.  The Little Pigeon River introduced me to brook trout, rainbow trout, and brown trout.  The farm ponds around also provided plenty of bass, bluegill, sunfish, and catfish.  It is here that I learned to fly fish and also baitcast.

 

In 1990 we moved to Medora, North Dakota where I learned about northern pike and catching trout in lakes.  In 1992 I went to college at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana.  Soon after I arrived I got a job at the local fly shop (Montana Troutfitters) and soon began guiding fly fishermen out of a drift boat on the local rivers.  I also spent time guiding in Yellowstone National Park.

 

In 1997 I went to work for the R.L. Winston Rod Company in Twin Bridges, Montana.  After becoming the sales rep for Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming for Winston, I started my own independant rep firm and continued to represent over thirty differant fishing manufacturers for the next 18 years. My rep job afforded me many opportunities to fish all over the world.  My favorite places I have fished include, Russia, Mexico, Argentina, Belize, Canada, and almost every saltwater flats fishing destination there is. In 2014 I sold my half of the rep agency to my partner and decided it was time to get on the water full time again. 

 

Armed with multiple fly rods in my arsenal as well as spin and casting rods, I will be fishing the FLW Rayovac Texas Tournament circuit and the B.A.S.S. central opens.

 

I could never pursue this dream without the help and undying support from my beautiful wife Amy and our three children Gage, Callen, and Calder.
